Not always. It earns its keep when systems are tight against structure — a low ceiling, a long duct run, a relocated panel, or an added bathroom on a slab. On a simple cosmetic remodel it is usually overkill, and we will say so.

We prepare coordinated drawings and bring in a licensed engineer when your scope or jurisdiction requires a stamp. Commercial work in Los Angeles and Ventura counties triggers that more often than residential work further north.

The systems are modeled against the building rather than drawn on a flat plan, so conflicts with joists, beams, headers, and ceiling heights show up before anyone is on site. We resolve them and document the decision on the drawings.
